We have a depth of experience cultivated through being part of our clients' many complex life transitions — major job changes, launching kids into adulthood, unexpected loss, understanding investments, and so much more.
Learning from our clients is a result of listening, paying attention, and meeting with you regularly. By understanding your underlying motives, hopes, and concerns, we help you make financial decisions more effectively — connecting your financial goals with your life goals in a way that fosters confidence and security.
We see each personal situation like a puzzle, and you can't put a puzzle together without looking at the picture first. Our job is to help you put that picture in focus. It doesn't always happen right away, but over time the picture becomes clearer, and the pieces fall right into place.
Planning Philosophy
Technology has lowered the cost and barrier to entry in this industry, but receiving high-quality, comprehensive financial planning is still a highly skilled human art. The human element is essential to help you navigate uncertainties — longevity, swings in the economic cycle, market returns, and emotional estate planning decisions.
We focus on managing what we can control with sound advice and guidance, and we believe comprehensive financial planning is a marathon, not a race. Because life happens — and sometimes it never stops happening — we build an ongoing, fiduciary-based planning relationship with every client rather than a one-time engagement.
Investment Philosophy
We are not investment managers or insurance agents pretending to be financial planners, nor do we want your results dependent on someone's ability to pick stocks, identify market trends, or "time the market." With more than 50 years of combined experience at our firm, we believe the most vital component to lasting financial success is controlling your spending before and during retirement while keeping pace with broad market returns.
We believe portfolios are best constructed using exchange-traded funds as well as individual bonds and CDs, favoring a selection of index funds that are low-cost, tax-efficient, diversified with balanced risk exposure, and built for a long-term, buy-and-hold approach.
Our Process
At Felton & Peel Wealth Management, we closely follow the process set forth by the CFP Board:
1. Let's Meet
Face to face at one of our offices, in your own home, or virtually via Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime — we discuss your goals and decide if our approach fits what you're looking for.
2. Get Organized
We take a thorough look at your accounts and liabilities to understand your current financial picture and build the right foundation.
3. Analyze Information
We take an in-depth look at everything, analyzing strengths and weaknesses, to devise a clear plan of action tailored to your needs.
4. Develop the Plan
We construct a comprehensive, cash flow-based financial plan and our firm's Living Asset Allocation, mapping the paths that get you to your goals.
5. Take Action & Implement
We help you carry the plan through — it's a guide that needs constant updating, and we structure our firm to support you through it.
6. Evaluate & Adjust
As your life, and market and economic conditions change, we track progress together and adjust your plan to keep you moving toward your goals.
